Training: Completed Yoga Fit Level 1 training, Restorative Yoga training, and Yin Yoga certification. Most recently completed a 200 hour teacher training with Amy Ippoliti in Boulder, Colorado. Ongoing participation in a variety of workshops including Anusara Yoga, Restorative Yoga, Acro Yoga, Hot Yoga, Yoga for Teens, Meditation, and basic Hatha Yoga.
Classes: Hatha/Anusara influenced classes for level I and Level II students of yoga with attention focused on cultivating a healthy alignment, developing a nourishing breath, and creating a sense of mindfulness. Each asana practice is intended to explore common threads and intricacies of poses while bringing students closer to a balance point filled with inner stillness and self-awareness.
Why I practice Yoga: Yoga is a way of life for me and gives voice to all that is meaningful to me. My hope is to practice with an open heart that encourages a willingness to embrace new possibilities and challenges with a sense of curiosity and wonder. Yoga allows me to gracefully integrate the mind, body, and spirit and nurture my soul with a deepened understanding. Most importantly,Yoga makes me happy.
Why I teach Yoga: Teaching has always been a calling for me rather than something defined as work-it is my way to contribute to the world. To teach yoga is both a blessing and an honor. There is no greater Aha! moment than when a student discovers something new within. My background in the field of education guides me in choosing language that is intended to inspire and yoga sequences that flow smoothly for students of all levels. As a life-long learner, I continue to learn from my students while I grow in my own practice. Yoga reminds me that every day is a gift to be celebrated.
Inspirations: My daughter, a Yoga Works 500 hour certified instructor, has been an amazing inspiration to me. Her willingness to share both her passion and her expertise with me has created a mother/daughter bond that is truly unique and expansive. I am grateful for the strength and beauty of this connection.
